Alex Iwobi, the Super Eagles midfielder, has clinched an award at Fulham for his game-winning goal against Manchester United on February 24.

During the match, Fulham visited Old Trafford, resulting in a surprising outcome for the mid-table team. Nigeria’s Calvin Bassey netted the opening goal in the 65th minute, followed by Harry Maguire’s equalizer for Manchester United in the 89th minute.

Just when Manchester United fans anticipated a 1-1 draw, Alex Iwobi sealed the deal with the winning goal in the 90+7th minute, securing Fulham’s remarkable 2-1 away victory at Old Trafford.

Fulham, on Wednesday, revealed that Alex Iwobi’s decisive goal against Manchester United was chosen as the club’s goal of the month for February. The 27-year-old Nigerian international secured 57.2 percent of the fans’ votes, earning him the monthly accolade.

It’s noteworthy that Iwobi’s goal against United followed criticism from his compatriots online, accusing him of not contributing enough to the Super Eagles’ efforts in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast. The tournament’s final saw the Super Eagles losing to the hosts on February 11, 2023.

Since joining Fulham from Everton on January 31, 2023, Iwobi has scored five goals in 22 games across all competitions for the Cottagers. Fans can catch him in action once again as Fulham faces Wolves in a Premier League game on Saturday, March 9, at 4 p.m.
