West Midlands Police said a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of blackmailing TV presenter Alison Hammond and has been in custody for questioning.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested by police in connection with allegations of blackmail against TV presenter Alison Hammond.

According to West Midlands Police, a man from Warwickshire was arrested on suspicion of blackmail on Saturday evening and is being questioned.

Hammond was reportedly blackmailed for large sums of money and a £5,000 BMW car.

According to The Sun, the blackmailer threatened to spread lies about her in order to derail her career if she did not comply with the demands.

Hammond hosts ITV’s This Morning on a regular basis and was recently announced as the new co-host of The Great British Bake Off.

The 48-year-old rose to prominence after competing in the third season of Big Brother in 2002. In the same year, she joined the This Morning team.

On Friday mornings, she co-hosts the weekday daytime show with former X Factor judge Dermot O’Leary.
She has appeared on reality shows such as I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Coach Trip, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef.

She recently teamed up with actor Richard E Grant to host the 2023 Baftas.
