The spokesperson for the Kaduna State governor expressed unawareness regarding the alleged arrest and stated intentions to contact the Department of State Services (DSS) for clarification.

Aisha Galadima, a political figure associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, was reportedly detained on Sunday by security personnel suspected to be from the DSS.

The arrest purportedly stemmed from a critical post on social media regarding the state governor, Uba Sani.

According to sources, Galadima expressed disapproval of Sani’s recent remarks targeting the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, in a Facebook post.

She was said to have been apprehended in her community in Kaduna’s Tudun Wada area on Sunday afternoon, and subsequent attempts to reach her via phone were unsuccessful.

However, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, claimed no knowledge of the arrest and suggested directing inquiries to the DSS for clarification.

“I’m not aware that a woman was arrested for posting a negative comment against His Excellency. In any case, you should direct your inquiries to the DSS, not the Kaduna State Government,” he remarked, as quoted by Daily Trust.

Background: In March, Pulse reported Governor Sani expressing frustration over the significant debt accumulated by Kaduna State during his predecessor’s tenure.

He highlighted that this debt burden posed challenges, including delays in paying workers’ salaries.

Sani revealed that his administration inherited a substantial debt of $587 million, ₦85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the immediate past government.

El-Rufai’s son responds to Gov Sani’s criticism: In response to Governor Sani’s remarks, Bashir El-Rufai, the son of the former governor, took to his social media handle to suggest that the current governor was trying to conceal his administration’s failures.

El-Rufai accused the governor of neglecting his duties and shifting blame away from his responsibilities, stating, “These guys have realized that they are wholly incompetent and the only way to mask the nonsense is to deflect. From a Governor who is always sleeping in Abuja to a litany of incompetent aides who were only rewarded for foolish political reasons.”
