Annie Wersching, an American actress best known for her work on the TV drama ’24’ and for creating the character of Tess in the 2013 video game “The Last of Us,” has died at the age of 45 after a two-year battle with cancer.
According to Variety, after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020, the actress’ family set up a GoFundMe account to raise funds.
Wersching, who played FBI agent Renne Walker in ’24,’ died on Sunday in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Some of her Hollywood colleagues who had helped raise funds for her had announced her death.
An advertisement was created in collaboration with Neil Druckmann, creative director of “The Last of Us,” Alexi Hawley, showrunner of “The Rookie,” and others.
“I became a fan of ’24’ and was lucky to be able to have Annie play mama to two of the hottest vamps in town,” Plec tweeted. Annie, you wonderful soul, rest in peace.”
“We have just lost a wonderful artist and human being. “My heart is broken,” Druckmann wrote.
Wersching, who was born in Missouri, began her career in 2002 as Liana in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.
Wersching’s first screen appearance came when he was 24 years old, in a 2002 episode of “Star Trek: Enterprise.”
Before landing recurring roles as Amelia Joffe in “General Hospital” and Renee Walker in “24,” she appeared in a variety of series including “Frasier,” “Supernatural,” and “Charmed.” Wersching went on to appear on “Timeless,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and “Extant.”
