As Nigerian-born British heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua gears up to face Daniel Dubois on September 21, rumors from their 2016 sparring session have resurfaced. Some claim that Dubois nearly knocked Joshua out during that training session.

Anthony Fowler, a former pro boxer who witnessed the sparring, added fuel to the fire by suggesting that Joshua’s “legs were like jelly” after a powerful punch from Dubois. Fowler even revealed that Joshua’s trainer, Rob McCracken, had to intervene and tell Joshua to take a break to recover.

Joshua, however, has dismissed these claims. Speaking to Sky Sports, he acknowledged receiving a solid punch from Dubois but refuted the idea that he was nearly knocked out. “He landed a good shot, but I stayed on my feet. I’m not sure where this whole narrative about me getting knocked out came from,” Joshua stated.

The upcoming fight at Wembley Stadium is set to address these lingering questions and decide the future of British heavyweight boxing. While some fans are confident in Joshua’s ability to win, others believe Dubois might pull off an upset.
