Thursday, February 12

The All Progressives Congress’s National Welfare Officer and a member of the National Working Committee have been reported dead.

Nwosu, a party chieftain, once ran for governor of Abia State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party before defecting to the ruling APC.

The late legal icon was said to have been admitted to an undisclosed Federal Capital Territory health facility before being discharged on Wednesday.

According to The Punch, Nwosu returned to the same hospital on Thursday for a routine check-up, where a source confirmed that he relapsed and had to be rushed into the intensive care unit, where he died.

“His death has shocked all NWC members, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu. “I am confident that the secretariat will issue an official report tomorrow morning,” said the source.
At around 8.20 p.m., the APC’s official Twitter handle reported the death of the national welfare officer.

“RIP SIR F.N. NWOSU,” the statement said. The APC family has suffered a monumental loss as a result of the death of the party’s National Welfare Secretary, Sir Friday Nwosu. “May his soul find peace.”

Nwosu’s final official duty before the presidential and National Assembly elections was a press conference on February 10 in which he urged former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah, and other disgruntled stakeholders to reconcile with Abia governorship candidate, Ikechi Emenike, in order to wrest control of the state from the Peoples Democratic Party.
