Following a 2-0 loss at PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal missed the opportunity to clinch first place. The Gunners only needed a point in the Netherlands to qualify as group winners and move on to the round of 16, but they will now need to defeat FC Zurich in their last match to guarantee their trip to the top position.

In the 55th minute, Joey Veerman scored the first-time goal from 16 yards for the visitors. Eight minutes later, after a mistake by goalie Aaron Ramsdale on his European debut, former Barcelona striker and expert in aerial balls Luuk de Jong came off the bench to increase the lead.

The defeat is Arsenal’s first setback in Europe this season.
