At the late rapper, Migos’ “Celebration of Life” on Friday at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, some 20,000 family members, friends, and admirers gathered to pay tribute to his life and legacy. Quavo, Offset, and Drake gave moving tributes throughout the funeral, which began just after midday and lasted for many hours. Justin Bieber, Chlöe Bailey, and Yolanda Adams all performed.

Drake discussed touring with Migos on the 2018 “Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour,” which he postponed in honor of Takeoff. He compared their fraternity to the renowned Rat Pack and gushed about how much he “liked” when Takeoff would take off his sunglasses and squint his eyes despite having open eyes.

Quavo thought back on their lifelong friendship. We did everything together because you were by my side all the time. You’ve always stood by my side and gazed up at me since we were children, he said of his nephew. “You never tried to outdo me. You hated playing against me because I usually played too hard or too rough, therefore we were always on the same team.

Offset reportedly apologized to Takeoff during his emotional statement and stated that he wanted to put the emphasis on brotherhood and family as he choked up during it. Before Takeoff’s passing, the gang split up.

The flow of Migos, which would “alter the culture of music forever,” was also credited by him to Takeoff. Take, you did that. That flow was altered by you. He fought back tears as he added, “Take is the inventor of that flow.

“Ghost” by Justin Bieber has performed acoustically, and “Heaven” by Beyoncé was covered by Chlöe Bailey. Alicia Keys wasn’t present despite earlier reports that she would perform. Cardi B, City Girls, Lil Yachty, Teyana Taylor, YG, Gucci Mane, and Mustard were among the other attendees.

Takeoff also received posthumous recognition from his hometown when Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens gave him the Phoenix Award, which is the highest honor bestowed by the city.

Instead of sending flowers or other presents, Takeoff’s family requested donations be made to The Rocket Foundation, which funds initiatives that help communities prevent gun violence while also saving lives.

Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot on November 1 outside a Houston bowling alley. Police are still looking into how he died, and no suspect has been identified.
