A forensic scientist and pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof. Sunday Soyemi, informed the coroner investigating the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, that the autopsy results failed to determine the cause of death.

Speaking before Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Soyemi explained that several factors contributed to this inconclusive result, notably the delay of 21 days before the autopsy was conducted, leading to significant decomposition of the body.

Providing further insight, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wahab Shittu, representing Mohbad’s family, clarified, “The pathologist emphasized that the body should have been exhumed within 12 hours after burial to prevent decomposition. Therefore, the inability to determine the cause of death implies suspicion, lack of clarity, without a specific reason.”

Shittu also mentioned that the pathologist highlighted certain drugs administered to Mohbad before his death, suggesting a potential reaction that complicated the assessment of the cause of death.

“He further indicated that the cause could be linked to reactions from the medications given before his demise. However, he couldn’t confirm if those drugs directly led to his death,” Shittu added.

The coroner has scheduled the cross-examination of the pathologist for June 11th.
