Singer/songwriter/producer Babyface performed “America the Beautiful” before the national anthem.

Babyface, wearing his trademark dark sunglasses and strumming an acoustic guitar emblazoned with the American flag, hit his notes sweetly and softly as he stood alone on the field. Despite the presence of background vocals, no other singers were present.

Babyface, born Kenneth Edmonds, is responsible for signing some of R&B’s most famous names, including TLC, Usher, and Toni Braxton. His credits include mega-hits for Boyz II Men (“End of the Road”), Madonna (“Take a Bow”), Whitney Houston (“I’m Your Baby Tonight”), and Toni Braxton (“Breathe Again”).
