The Spanish Super Cup is set to bring fireworks at the start of the new year, with the Royal Spanish Football Federation confirming two blockbuster semi-final matchups.
Barcelona will face Athletic Club, while the Madrid derby will take center stage on the other side, as Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid lock horns once again.
This year’s tournament will be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from January 7 to 11 at the King Abdullah Sports City, a venue that has become the competition’s home in recent seasons.
Barcelona enter as the reigning champions after their stunning 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in last year’s final, a win that capped off a Treble under Hansi Flick.
The Super Cup itself has grown beyond its old two-team format. Now, it features a four-club showdown, bringing together the top two finishers in La Liga alongside the Copa del Rey finalists, adding extra drama to the chase for the trophy.
