Despite the weather’s attempts to dampen the spirits, Beyoncé and her devoted BeyHive proved unstoppable on Sunday night (Aug. 6) at FedExField.
As the storm clouds gathered before Bey’s second DMV performance of her “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR,” the venue officials declared a “shelter-in-place” due to nearby lightning around 6:40 p.m. Fans were instructed to seek cover, leading to some chaos and confusion.
Thankfully, an “all clear” signal was given by 8:25 p.m., but some attendees still faced delays. Reports suggest that tensions even arose between enthusiastic concertgoers and police officials at the gates. However, Beyoncé’s fans were determined not to let anything ruin their unforgettable night with the iconic singer.

True to her reputation, Beyoncé didn’t let the rain dampen her performance; she made it a part of the show! And to ensure her fans had a smooth ride home despite the delay, her touring company stepped in.
Funding an extra hour of Metro service, they covered the $100,000 cost, allowing fans to enjoy the “Renaissance World Tour” to the fullest. The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority confirmed that all 98 Metro stations remained open, with entry limited to the Morgan Blvd. station near FedExField.
In a press statement, they shared, “The extended time means the #BeyHive can stay for the ‘Party’ and still get home on Metro.” The extra hour was solely dedicated to the concert’s attendees, ensuring they had a comfortable and hassle-free journey back home.
Beyoncé’s generosity and dedication to her fans made the night truly unforgettable for everyone in attendance.
