Bobrisky Set to Be Released from Jail on August 5

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is expected to be released from prison on August 5.

Bobrisky is currently serving a six-month sentence for abusing naira notes, a punishment handed down by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on April 12, 2024.

Celebrity journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus reports that despite the prison sentence, Bobrisky has been enjoying certain privileges. According to Korkus, “Bobrisky, who was sentenced in March without an option of fine for misusing Nigeria’s naira, will be released on August 5, 2024. It seems he’s not really experiencing the full prison experience, as he’s had access to the internet and phone calls, though he hasn’t been allowed to leave his current location.”

Clarification on Bobrisky’s Jail Conditions

Amidst circulating rumors about Bobrisky’s living conditions, the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has issued a clarification.

Recent online speculation suggested that Bobrisky was staying in a VIP apartment within the Kirikiri correctional facility. However, NCoS spokesperson Rotimi Oladokun has firmly denied these claims. In a statement released on Saturday, Oladokun clarified that Bobrisky is not receiving special treatment and is sharing a cell with other inmates. He emphasized that the facility does not offer en-suite or ‘one-bedroom flat’ style accommodations, and that all cells are designed to house multiple inmates without exclusive amenities.
