Bow Wow is once again slamming Jermaine Dupri.
Despite his long association with So So Def, Bow Wow continues to dismiss JD’s contribution to his career. Bow went off on JD in a series of since-deleted tweets on Sunday, claiming that he was never signed to So So Def and that JD conspired to keep his publishing.
Bow Wow made the remarks in response to JD’s recent interview with “The Breakfast Club,” during which she discussed their relationship.
“Don’t you have an album to promote?” Instead of bringing me up in every interview you’ve done, concentrate on that,” Bow Wow tweeted. “I’m not bringing you up. Give me the same courtesy, homie.”
Bow Wow clarified that he was never signed to JD when someone called his comments “sickening.” “I was never signed to so so def,” she says. “I was on Columbia Records,” he explained.
He claimed that JD “lied” about his involvement in his music and that he was discouraged from writing because JD wanted all of the publishing rights. JD wrote and produced two of Bow’s biggest hits, “Like You” and “Let Me Hold You.”
“How come he doesn’t produce or write allll the hits like you think?” How they prevented me from writing because they wanted all of the publishing rights…. Or how I was NEVER signed to so let’s definitely talk about it!” he added.
JD also allegedly tried to push “Outta My System” over Bow Wow’s R. Kelly-assisted single “I’m a Flirt.” On the latter, Bow Wow was credited as a writer.
“They don’t want me to shine,” he explained. “They knew that once I got my first number one with them, that would be all the confidence I needed.” Later on, I discovered about publishing. NO ONE WROTE WITH ME OR FOR ME AGAIN!”
While he slammed JD, he praised R. Kelly for being “REAL enough to explain to me and give me publishing” and Snoop Dogg for helping him. After seeing him perform at a concert in 1993, Snoop gave the 6-year-old boy the stage name “Lil Bow Wow.”
“Snoop brought me up! And plays a significant role in my life,” he stated. I learned how to be a man from T.I. as well as to work for mines. Nothing will be lost for you! It is time for you to write and profit from this publishing business. That is how genuine ones act.
JD talked about his relationship with Bow Wow and how outside factors, like the media, have changed his perception during his interview with “The Breakfast Club.” He stated, “Hip-hop has lost its appreciation for anything in recent times.”
The previous year, Bow Wow made a statement in opposition to JD and announced plans to reunite with Snoop Dogg and release his final album on Death Row Records, which the hip-hop icon had purchased.
