Burna Boy is heading to one of the biggest global stages in music and sport, this time alongside Colombian superstar Shakira for the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The track, titled Dai Dai, is set for release on May 14 and already has fans talking after Shakira teased the collaboration online. In her announcement, she confirmed the song as the official World Cup anthem, sharing a preview from Maracanã Stadium and tagging Burna Boy in the post.
With this collaboration, Burna Boy adds another major international milestone to his career. He now becomes the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official World Cup song, following Davido’s appearance on Hayya Hayya (Better Together) for the 2022 tournament.
The 2026 World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, running from June 11 to July 19. The opening match is expected at Estadio Azteca, while the final will take place at MetLife Stadium.
For Burna Boy, this isn’t his first link with global football culture. He has previously been involved in football-related music projects and also performed at the UEFA Champions League final in 2023, further cementing his presence on international stages.
At the moment, it is still unclear whether Dai Dai will be performed live at the opening ceremony or the final, but the anticipation around the collaboration is already building.
One thing is certain—this pairing of Burna Boy and Shakira is set to be one of the standout musical moments leading into the 2026 tournament.
