Nigerian Grammy-winning artist, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has made the unfortunate decision to cancel his highly anticipated live concert in Johannesburg. The management team for Burna Boy cited the incompetence of the show’s promoters as the primary reason for the cancellation. They have also expressed their sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and have committed to refunding tickets to disappointed fans. The concert was originally scheduled to take place on September 23rd at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a statement, Burna Boy’s management explained, “Regrettably, we must announce the cancellation of the show on September 23rd in Johannesburg due to the promoters’ inability to meet their contractual, production, financial, and technical obligations, despite our team’s best efforts. Production vendors have not received their payments, and it has become clear that the agreed-upon production standards for a venue of this size cannot be met. We extend our deepest apologies to all fans, and ticketing companies will ensure full refunds. We look forward to reuniting with you all in the near future.”

In addition to the show’s cancellation, there have been unconfirmed allegations of fraud surrounding the event. Reports have also surfaced indicating that ticket sales fell significantly below expectations, with only 1,500 tickets sold for a stadium with a capacity of 90,000. Some attribute this poor performance to the high ticket price, which was set at R765 (equivalent to 32,000 naira).

The turn of events has ignited a flurry of reactions on social media, with people sharing their thoughts and opinions on the matter. This situation continues to unfold, and updates may follow as more information becomes available.
