To address the labor deficit, the Canadian federal government has unveiled a plan to welcome 500,000 immigrants year by 2025.
Canada’s 2023–2025 Immigration Levels Plan, which supports immigration as a tactic to assist businesses to locate employees and recruit the skills needed in critical areas, was released by Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Sean Fraser.
According to a recent press statement from the immigration ministry, there are severe labor market shortages now affecting Canadian firms and individuals.
The comprehensive immigration plan will address Canada’s future social and economic problems.
Canada accepted more than 405,000 immigrants in 2021, the highest ever in a single year.
In the new levels plan, the government has set goals for 465,000 permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025 as part of its continued pursuit of this vision.

By the third year of the proposal, 60% of new immigrants will be accepted under the categories for economic immigration, according to Fraser.
The strategy also expanded the emphasis on luring immigrants to all parts of the nation, including rural and small-town areas.
According to the press release, immigration accounted for almost 100% of Canada’s growth in the labor force and is expected to account for 100% of Canada’s population growth by 2032.
The ratio of workers to retirees in Canada is predicted to drop from seven to one fifty years ago to two to one by the year 2035.
