Cardi B has agreed to a plea agreement in the case of the strip club fight.
According to TMZ, the rapper has admitted guilt to third-degree assault and reckless endangerment. In exchange for 15 days of community work, she was released from jail.
Cardi showed up in court on Thursday, two days before jury selection was scheduled to start, and she accepted the last-minute plea agreement. On Monday, the trial was scheduled to begin.
Bartender sisters Rachel Wattley and Sarah Wattley, nicknamed Jade and Baddie Gi, were accused of attacking a patron at Queens’ Angels Strip Club in August 2018. The women allege that because the rapper thought Jade had been having an affair with Offset, Cardi’s supporters hurled chairs, bottles, and a hookah.
According to NBC New York, Cardi acknowledged giving a pal $5,000 to assault a club employee. She also admitted to hurling glass bottles in the victim’s and her sister’s direction.
Cardi apologized for the incident in a statement to TMZ. Being responsible for your actions is a crucial component of maturing and growing up, she said. As a mother, I am attempting to establish this behavior in my kids, but I must set a good example first. I’ve made some poor choices in the past, but I’m not scared to admit them.
She continued, “These times don’t make me who I am, and they don’t reflect who I am right now. With my family and friends, I’m looking forward to putting this situation behind us and returning to what I love most: music and my fans.
Cardi must perform community service as well as keep a three-year distance from both victims. Co-defendants in the case, two of whom entered guilty pleas, admitted to second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree assault.
