On Wednesday night, Cardi B made a big announcement about her upcoming record, “Like What (Freestyle),” which is scheduled to release on Friday.

She got fans buzzing with excitement by sharing the cover art on her social media profiles. The picture showed the rapper decked out in pearls, bows, flowers, sporting pink eyebrows, and a matching manicure. Her caption teased, “YA FOUND ME. ‘Like What (Freestyle)’ [drops on]FRIDAY.”

Fans are eagerly anticipating the new track. One user commented, “Cardi [is]about to make history again like she did with her first album.” Another impatiently wrote, “Girl, release the damn album already. What the f**k is going on? I’m about to go to the studio myself.”

The announcement came after Cardi shared a snippet of the music on her Instagram Story. In the brief clip, she rapped, “I ain’t even got dressed / Any L that I took come after YS / Oh man.” The beat sampled Missy Elliott’s 1999 hit “She’s a B**ch.”

Earlier this month, Offset encouraged the “Bodak Yellow” sensation to release new music. In a low-key video shared on his Instagram Story, the Atlanta rapper was seen nodding his head to the beat. He captioned the post, “Stop being scary and drop the album… This stuff goes crazy 🔥.”

“Like What (Freestyle)” will be Cardi’s initial solo release of the year. In 2023, she collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on “Bongos” and teamed up with Offset for “JEALOUSY” and FendiDa Rappa for “Point Me 2.”

Fans are eagerly awaiting a follow-up to Cardi’s debut studio album, “Invasion of Privacy,” released in 2018. The album featured two No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 singles and earned her a Grammy for Best Rap Album. There’s speculation that her second album could debut in 2024.

“I should already start talking about the album because I’m going to be putting it out very soon,” the New York native shared with Ebro Darden. “It’s like I have to watch it because I always feel like somebody watching me — it’s going to come out when it’s going to come out.”
