Stamford Bridge to host open iftar on March 26, club confirms

Chelsea will host the first-ever fast-breaking or iftar meal at their home stadium Stamford Bridge on March 26, just a few days after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins.

“On Sunday 26 March, Chelsea Foundation will host an Open Iftar at Stamford Bridge, a first for the club and a Premier League stadium,” the London club said in a statement Monday.

Ramadan will begin on March 23 and will last until the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday on April 21.

“A number of local mosques and members of Chelsea’s Muslim community, such as supporters and school students, as well as Chelsea FC staff, will be invited,” the club said.

Simon Taylor, CEO of the Chelsea Foundation, stated that they are “delighted” to organize an open iftar and cannot wait to welcome everyone.

The event “will be run in collaboration with the Ramadan Tent Project,” an award-winning charity founded in 2013. Its goal is to bring communities together and help people understand Ramadan.

Chelsea launched a “No To Hate” campaign in 2021 to combat racism, hate speech, and discrimination while also promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
