Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that winger Alejandro Garnacho has been feeling a bit disappointed following his omission from the squad in United’s recent 2-1 victory over Manchester City last weekend. Amorim’s decision to leave out Garnacho ahead of the match has left the young Argentine international feeling upset.
As the Red Devils gear up for their upcoming Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur at 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, Amorim emphasized Garnacho’s readiness to make an impact in the upcoming fixture.
During a pre-match interview, Amorim stated, “Garnacho is performing really well; his training sessions have been outstanding.” He acknowledged Garnacho’s disappointment, saying, “He seems a little upset with me, and that’s completely understandable. I was really happy to see that because, as a player, I would have felt the same way.”
In other squad news, Amorim also provided an update on midfielder Mason Mount, who has suffered another injury setback. The England international had to leave the pitch early in the Manchester City match and now faces another extended period on the sidelines.
“This latest injury has hit Mason hard,” Amorim said. “He’s out, still recovering, and he’s really sad about it.” The coach added, “In the dressing room, he was visibly upset, so it’s important for us as a team to offer the support he needs.”
Amorim emphasized the challenges that come with players enduring long injury spells, particularly with the demanding schedule ahead. “When a player goes through such a tough phase with injuries, especially during a season like this, it becomes difficult both physically and emotionally.”
