During a candid chat on The Breakfast Club, Davido let it slip that he and Chioma are ready to take the next step with a white wedding ceremony abroad. While reminiscing about cultural traditions, he touched on how marriage works differently back home in Nigeria compared to the U.S.
“There are households back home where the son is so attached to his mum, she becomes the third party in the marriage,” he shared, laughing. “Even if he gets married, the mum moves in. Everything the man does is right in her eyes.”
The couple already had a vibrant traditional wedding in Nigeria, which Davido says felt more like a national festival than a private ceremony. “It was wild,” he recalled. “It felt like the whole world paused. With everything Chioma and I have gone through — from our ups and downs, public scrutiny, even unimaginable loss — this next chapter means a lot.”
For Davido, this white wedding is more than just a ceremony — it’s a symbol of growth, commitment, and second chances. “This time, I want to do it right. Chioma deserves it all,” he said with sincerity.
He also had high praise for his bride, highlighting how she chooses to stay lowkey despite the chaos that fame brings. “You’ll never catch her going live on Instagram to rant or airing dirty laundry in public. She just doesn’t do that. And I respect her deeply for it.”
Davido didn’t pretend things have been perfect — “Nobody is,” he admitted. “But if you’ve followed our journey, you know this moment is special.”
