Afrobeats heavyweight David “Davido” Adeleke has officially become a Grammy Voting Member of the Recording Academy — the body behind the world’s most prestigious music awards.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in a video shared by the Academy on Instagram, confirming Davido’s induction ahead of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, set to take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

As a Voting Member, Davido will be directly involved in the Grammy process — reviewing submissions, nominating, and ultimately helping decide the winners. He joins an impressive roster that includes Offset, Jessie Reyez, Ravyn Lenae, Zac Brown, Anne Akiko Meyers, Maya Elizabeth, Miles Minnick, Damien Sneed, Damaris, and Stewart Copeland.

Nigeria also continues to shine within the Academy, with other members like Tito Da Fire, Laycon, Oxlade, Praiz, and music executive Bizzle Osikoya, who were admitted in 2022.

To qualify for this role, applicants must hold credits on at least six commercially released tracks within the last five years, remain actively engaged in the music industry, and meet the Academy’s standards for professional standing. Their applications are vetted by a diverse panel before final approval by the Board of Trustees.

Speaking on his induction, the Timeless star shared his excitement about contributing to the decision-making process.

“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy process is a game-changer. Voting empowers you to have a say in what gets considered each award season. I’m honoured to be part of this community, and I look forward to voting,” Davido said.

The Recording Academy also reminded members that voting for the upcoming awards begins on October 3.

Davido is no stranger to the Grammys, having earned four nominations so far — three at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, and one in 2025, where he competed in the Best African Music Performance category alongside Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Tems, Asake, and Wizkid. His collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay was also nominated, though Tems eventually clinched the award.

While a Grammy win has so far eluded him, Davido’s new role signals an even deeper connection with the global music stage.
