Davido’s Grammy Night didn’t unfold as he might have hoped. The Nigerian superstar had his sights set on clinching his first Grammy award, having been nominated in three categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Global Album Performance.
Despite the anticipation and excitement surrounding his nominations, Davido walked away empty-handed. In the Best African Music category, the spotlight shone on Tyla’s ‘Water’, while ‘Pashto’ by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain Featuring Rakesh Chaurasia seized the Best Global Music Performance honor. The Best Global Album accolade was claimed by Shakti’s ‘The Moment’, leaving Davido to applaud from the sidelines.
