DDG is demonstrating his ability to laugh at himself. Last night (May 16), the Pontiac-raised rapper responded to being dubbed a “E-list” rapper on social media, and he doesn’t appear to have taken the compliment to heart. The phrase first surfaced yesterday afternoon, when a pop culture Twitter account tweeted, “Halley Bailey and E-list rapper DDG are rumored to have broken up.”
After the tweet went viral, DDG confirmed he had seen the message a few hours later. “‘E-list rapper’ kinda funny [not gonna lie],” he said in response.
The 25-year-old performer decided to seize the opportunity, knowing that many people were checking his Twitter page to see what he had to say. He then quoted another tweet indicating that his song “I’m Geekin'” was the second most-added song on US Urban Radio this week. “This is number two. “E-list rapper gone insane,” he wrote. Then he revealed that he is upgrading the track. DDG added, “‘I’m Geekin” remix this Friday!”

DDG and Bailey publicly confirmed their relationship in 2022. Fans noticed they unfollowed each other on social media earlier this year, which sparked the breakup rumors.
DDG’s most recent full-length album, It’s Not Me It’s You, was released in 2022 and featured Polo G, NLE Choppa, Gunna, Kevin Gates, and Babyface Ray. The album was preceded by singles such as “Elon Musk” and “If I Want You.” Soon after, he returned to give fans the official deluxe edition of the album. Four new songs were added, as well as collaborations with Offset, Coi Leray, and Lakeyah.
Following the release of the LP, the “Moonwalking In Calabasas” rapper maintained his momentum by releasing a slew of loose tracks, one of which was titled “In Love With A Mermaid.” The song was dedicated to Bailey and made a reference to her starring role in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
