It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of John Kumah, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu.

John Kumah, aged 45, reportedly succumbed to a brief illness, leaving behind his wife and six children. Known affectionately as Lawyer John Kumah, he was renowned in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, for his integrity and commitment to fostering job opportunities and nurturing hope among both the young and old.

Prior to his political career, John Kumah served as the Managing Director of Majak Associates Ltd, a prominent building and construction firm engaged in projects nationwide. Later, as the founder of Aduaprokye Chambers, he made significant contributions to the legal profession.

In 2017, he was appointed CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), where he spearheaded the training of 45,000 start-ups under the Presidential Business Support Programme. Through NEIP, he facilitated the creation of numerous jobs for youth across the country.

With over 17 years of leadership experience, John Kumah was recognized for his creativity, innovation, and dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and youth development. He received accolades such as the Most Efficient, Prominent Government Appointee in 2018 and was listed among President Akufo Addo’s top 20 Most Humble and Respectful Appointees in 2019.

A dedicated member of the NPP, John Kumah played pivotal roles in grassroots party activities since 1992. He was instrumental in founding the Young Patriots, a youth political activist group within the NPP, and actively contributed to the party’s communication efforts.

In Ejisu, he championed various infrastructure and job creation projects, securing substantial funding to fulfill his promises to constituents.

John Kumah’s passing is a significant loss to Ghana, and his legacy as a visionary leader committed to empowering the youth will endure.
