Voting has ended in most of the voting units I’ve visited in Ibadan, Nigeria’s south-west, with others just finishing up.

The proceedings did begin late in certain areas, including the voting site where Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde eventually voted.

The main cause of these delays was the late arrival of election officials.

Yet, thus far, the election has been quiet, with no allegations of electoral violence or the destruction of voting materials.

Those who were in line at 14:30 local time (13:30 GMT) when polls officially closed had been allowed to vote.

Later in the day, all ballots cast will be delivered to the state offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec).
