Jennifer Lee is no stranger to achieving goals! Not only did the Los Angeles-based dance producer — best known to her cult-like fan base as Tokimonsta — overcome a rare, life-threatening cerebrovascular disorder that necessitated two brain surgeries, but she also became the first female Asian-American producer to receive a Grammy nomination for best dance electronic album for her 2017 album “Lune Rouge.”
Now, the California native — who has also worked with Bibi Bourelly, Kelly Rowland, EarthGang, Channel Tres, and Anderson. Paak has also recently become a first-time homeowner, having paid just under $2 million for a modern cottage in L.A.’s trendy Atwater Village neighborhood.
Tokimonsta’s newly acquired home, built in 1924 and “recently renovated and expanded sparing no expense,” features three bedrooms and two baths in nearly 1,500 square feet of single-level living space, adorned throughout with hardwood floors, whitewashed wood-beam ceilings, whimsical light fixtures, and numerous windows and skylights for plenty of natural light.
The white stucco structure sits on less than a quarter acre of land and has a gated driveway off to the side. An adjacent walkway leads past the Terremoto-landscaped lawn before ending at a wood front door that matches the front fence perfectly. The open-concept interiors include a large living/dining area that flows into a nicely updated kitchen with floating shelves, high-end stainless appliances, and an eat-in island with seating for four and plenty of storage space.
The newly added master retreat is accessible via a hallway and features French doors leading outside, a walk-in closet, and a terracotta-tiled bath with dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub, and an open shower. There are two additional guest bedrooms and a full bath, as well as a garden and a small heated pool in the private backyard.
There’s also a detached garage that’s been converted into an extra creative space, which is undoubtedly the ideal location for Tokimonsta to continue her trailblazing journey.
