The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to reject John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December general elections, citing concerns about taking the nation backward.

Dr. Bawumia asserted that electing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer would hinder the country’s development and accountability. He emphasized that he offers the best prospect for Ghana’s progress and responsible governance.

Addressing a gathering of clergy in the Northern Region, Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of voters’ choices, highlighting his commitment to an eight-year term. He expressed determination to deliver on promises within the first four years to earn trust for a second term, contrasting this with his opponent’s potential single term and lack of accountability thereafter.

Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his comfort and confidence in engaging with Christians, emphasizing the compatibility between Islam and other religions. He referenced Prophet Mohammed’s teachings, advocating for mutual respect and understanding among different faiths.

In promoting peaceful coexistence, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need to sustain Ghana’s harmonious religious diversity. He warned against external threats, urging continued collaboration to prevent the infiltration of extremist ideologies that exploit religious differences.

Dr. Bawumia’s remarks underscore his commitment to fostering national unity, accountability, and progress, while advocating for religious tolerance and cooperation to safeguard Ghana’s stability and security.
