An Egyptian official has called allegations in leaked Pentagon documents that Cairo planned to secretly manufacture and supply Russia with 40,000 missiles “utterly baseless.”
Several pro-government news outlets have carried an unnamed source’s denial.
The Washington Post obtained the documents from a trove of leaked US Defense Department papers.
The official was quoted as saying Cairo did not take sides in the Ukraine war as part of the denial.
The allegations were dismissed by the Kremlin as “yet another canard.”
