Emirates Airlines Returns to Lagos After Two-Year Hiatus
Emirates, the premier airline of the United Arab Emirates, has made a significant comeback to Lagos, Nigeria, resuming operations after a two-year break. This resumption comes after the airline suspended flights due to various challenges, including unresolved trapped funds.
On Tuesday, flight EK 783 touched down at Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) at 3:32 PM, arriving at the old terminal. Although the Boeing 777-300ER can accommodate up to 392 passengers, many seats were left empty on this inaugural flight back to Lagos.
The limited passenger load underscores the ongoing challenges that airlines face as they navigate the complexities of resuming operations in a post-pandemic environment. Reports indicate that while arriving passengers were processed at the old terminal, departing travelers were managed at the new terminal, reflecting the transitional nature of airport operations.
One passenger shared their experience, saying, “The flight wasn’t full at all, but the service was excellent. Considering this is the first flight after so many years, I think that’s understandable.”
As Emirates begins this new chapter in Lagos, the airline looks forward to rebuilding its presence and offering exceptional service to travelers.
