Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State faced a strong reaction from #EndBadGovernance protesters at the Port Harcourt Government House on Thursday. The governor’s attempt to address the demonstrators with a small financial gesture and offer of pure water only heightened their frustration.
Speaking to the crowd, Fubara said, “I appreciate your peaceful demonstration and understand your pain. I promise to relay your message to the President. We are committed to improving conditions in Rivers State and ask for your support and patience with the Federal Government during these tough times. Here’s a small token to help you stay hydrated.”
The protesters responded with chants of “No, no! Keep your money. We demand good governance. Tinubu must go,” rejecting the governor’s offer. Despite his efforts to explain and calm the situation, Fubara’s attempt to ease tensions was unsuccessful, and he eventually left the scene.
