Kaduna Governor Links Recent Protests to External Agendas, Praises Security Forces for Restraint

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has attributed the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests to external influences, noting the involvement of young children who were seen waving foreign flags.

In a statement addressing the state’s security situation, Sani expressed concern over the disruption caused by the curfew, which has affected local residents’ ability to work and shop.

Sani suggested that the protests were orchestrated to incite chaos, exploiting the psychological impact on children and leveraging regional connections with neighboring countries like Niger Republic.

He criticized the notion that the protests were solely about governance or economic difficulties, arguing that initial genuine grievances were overshadowed by groups using uneducated, underage children for their agenda.

The governor commended the security forces for their restraint, highlighting that they allowed children to climb on police vehicles without resorting to force. He assured that a thorough investigation is underway, emphasizing a professional approach to managing the situation.

Sani remarked, “An investigation is currently in progress. It’s unfortunate that many innocent people are now at home, unable to earn a living due to the disruption caused.

“When you see children as young as nine, ten, and fourteen waving foreign flags, it’s clear that the protests are being manipulated by elements seeking to create unrest in the country.

“The strategy involved using the psychology of these children, knowing that people in Northern Nigeria have close ties with neighboring countries like Niger Republic. They are being led to believe that what happened in Niger, Burkina Faso, or Mali could happen here.

“To me, the protest is not about bad governance or hunger. Those who participated were driven by factions exploiting the fact that many children are uneducated and underage.

“I commend the security agencies for their professional handling of the situation. Some children were even seen climbing on police armored vehicles, showing the police’s understanding and restraint. We are committed to investigating this matter thoroughly.”
