Kevin Costner’s estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, has made claims in court regarding their divorce proceedings. In recent court documents filed on June 16 in Santa Barbara County, Baumgartner requested a monthly payment of $248,000 to support herself and their children: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13.
According to the filing, Baumgartner stated that Costner informed their children about the divorce during a brief 10-minute Zoom call while he was in Las Vegas, with her not being present. She expressed confusion over his decision to disclose the news through a short video session, especially considering that he would be returning home just five days later. Baumgartner and Costner were married for almost 20 years before Baumgartner initiated divorce proceedings, citing irreconcilable differences.
Baumgartner further explained in another document that their lifestyle was characterized by luxury, including private plane travel, multiple extravagant properties, indulgent trips to the Caribbean and Hawaii, memberships to exclusive country clubs, private chefs, and high-end education for their children.
According to Baumgartner’s declaration, Costner reportedly earned $19.5 million in 2022 and covered their family’s expenses, amounting to $11.9 million, leaving a net income of $7.5 million. She emphasized that their marital lifestyle, which extended to their children, was consistent with Costner’s substantial income. Baumgartner’s primary concern is to ensure the well-being of their children and provide them with a home and lifestyle that is reasonably comparable to their father’s.
Baumgartner, who is 49 years old and works as a handbag designer, stated that she is currently unemployed, dedicating her time to raising their children and managing their household, projects, and staff. Aside from $50,000 in her bank account, she has no other assets or income.
Furthermore, Baumgartner expressed her efforts to keep their divorce private, despite its recent exposure. She stated that her intention was to safeguard their family’s privacy and clarified that she did not pressure Costner to leave the show “Yellowstone.” Baumgartner believes that Costner’s public criticisms of her are detrimental to their family, possibly intended to coerce her into moving out without obtaining a temporary child support order.
As of now, no comments have been provided by the lawyers representing Baumgartner and Costner in response to these claims.
