According to local media, a prominent Ethiopian journalist has been detained by people who are believed to be security officers.
According to reports, freelance journalist Dawit Begashaw was “abducted by security forces” on Wednesday evening.
According to the Mereja website, the journalist’s whereabouts are unknown.

Meskerem Abera, another journalist, was arrested over the weekend, according to Mereja.
“In recent months, non-state-affiliated media outlets have been relentlessly attacked as the Ethiopian government moves to stifle critical voices,” according to the website.
