How we met
By the bride, Yewande:

Get ready for a heartwarming tale as I share how fate intervened to bring me the best early Christmas present in 2020. Picture this: the winter of 2020, (cue the eye roll as I try to feel like a Yankee babe 😂), just minding my own business, not actively seeking romance. Little did I know, my boss had created an incredible dating website called Girl Country, and my friends Bonu, Sophie, and I were thrilled to be a part of it. We never imagined that this platform would change my life forever.

On December 14, 2020, I received a notification from the website that I had been matched with someone named “Silas.” I was taken aback! How could this be? Me, a backend dev, matched with someone? The office was buzzing with excitement that day—they saw an opportunity to use me for external testing 😂! After some gentle nudging from Sophie, Silas and I had our first call, exchanged Instagram handles, and agreed to meet in person.

I picked a restaurant conveniently close to my house for our first encounter. I must admit, I didn’t put too much effort into my appearance (though Silas insists I looked stunning), as I wasn’t expecting anything serious to come out of it. But little did I know, that casual meet-up would change everything.

Let me share the juicy details with you! Picture this: I ended up being fashionably late for our first date, and to top it off, my phone wouldn’t stop buzzing with business calls (gotta handle my hustle, you know, can’t risk my customer’s orders getting mixed up!). But here’s the twist – all those little mishaps somehow made him even more intrigued by me. We hit it off with some amazing conversations over lunch, then grabbed ice cream and continued chatting in the car. It felt like we’d known each other forever. He’s such a smart guy!

Fast forward to numerous mind-blowing dates later, and on December 19, 2021 (yes, the same day as our first date – talk about intentional!), he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. And then, on the most perfect day of March 23, 2023, he popped the question! They say the rest is history, and I can’t wait to spend every day waking up next to him!

Who would have thought that a girl who once swore off dating sites would find her soulmate on one? 😂🤦‍♀️ God truly works in mysterious ways. And here’s a little tidbit he didn’t mention: he scrolled through over 100 user profiles, stumbled upon mine, kept searching, and then circled back to my profile. Now that’s what I call patience! 😂

How we met
By the groom, Silas:

It’s the post-2020 pandemic era in Lagos, and a brilliant doctor decides to shake things up by launching a revolutionary dating website – Girl Country. Naturally, his coworkers, including the stunning Yewande (seriously, she’s a knockout! 😉 but you can argue with your keyboard), jump in to lend their support and expand the platform’s user base. Meanwhile, as a tech enthusiast, I casually offered my debugging skills to help out. Little did I know, this decision would change my life.

After numerous searches, I stumbled upon Yewande’s profile, and her infectious smile captured my heart instantly. I knew right then and there that I had found my soulmate! Our first date was unforgettable, even though she was fashionably late. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through, and I realized she was the kind of woman I wanted by my side for eternity.

But let me tell you, obstacles were abound. Yet, as the song goes, “mercy said no…I’m not gonna let you go…I’m not gonna let you slip away…so you don’t have to be afraid…” 🎶 Yewande and I eagerly said yes to a love that seemed to find us against all odds. So, let’s sing it out loud: “Miracle, Jesus never tires! To bless Silas, Jesus never tires! He’s done it before, He’ll do it again…Miracle never tires, Jesus!” 🎶😂
