Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, is facing calls from his family to step up and take responsibility for his father, Fatai Odunsi, and an alleged daughter, Zeenat.
In a viral video, Odunsi revealed he has been battling a stroke and appealed to the public for financial assistance. He claimed that Asake had not been in contact since March 2022 when his health challenges began.
Addressing the situation on social media, Asake responded through a Yoruba song, suggesting that he cannot satisfy everyone and hinting at past efforts to support his father. However, his family insists that more should be done.
A female representative of the family, in a video circulating online, urged the singer to purchase a property worth ₦40 to ₦50 million for his father to secure a steady source of income.
“Asake, one day you will grow old too. Please take care of your father,” she pleaded. “Even if Nigerians donate billions to him, your personal support would mean more. The Quran teaches that we reap what we sow. We want you to keep thriving, and may God continue to bless you, but do not forget your responsibilities.”
The family also addressed claims that Asake had abandoned an 11-year-old girl named Zeenat, stating that her mother is open to a DNA test to confirm paternity.
“If you doubt Zeenat is your child, the mother has agreed to a DNA test,” the family stated. “If you are unwilling to provide for your father directly, at least buy a property in his name so he can live off the rent. That’s all he asks for.”
The situation has sparked conversations online, with many weighing in on the singer’s obligations and family dynamics.
