Chaos Erupts at Davido’s Enugu Concert as Fans Complain About Poor Security and Overcrowding

What was meant to be an unforgettable night of music and excitement turned into frustration and fear for many fans of Davido in Enugu.

The Afrobeats superstar had brought his much-anticipated “5ive Tour” home to Nigeria, with stops in Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Enugu, Ibadan, and Lagos. The first two shows reportedly went well, but the Enugu leg on November 1 took an unexpected turn.

The concert, held at Michael Okpara Square, reportedly pulled in more than 40,000 attendees — double the venue’s capacity. The result? Overcrowding, disorganization, and widespread complaints about poor security and safety measures.

Videos and posts flooded social media after the event, as attendees shared chaotic scenes and personal accounts of what went wrong.

One concertgoer, @adis_beautification, described a complete breakdown in security:

“People without tickets got in. The gate was broken, and security didn’t control the crowd. Touts came in and used razor blades to tear bags. So many girls were robbed. My phone was stolen.”

Another attendee, @hairz_by_steph, recounted the harassment women faced in the packed crowd:

“They were pressing girls’ bodies everywhere. The crowd was too much. The event was supposed to start at 4 p.m., but Davido arrived at 3 a.m. People entered without tags. My nails came off in the struggle, and my friend’s phone was stolen.”

For some, the night became downright dangerous. @mmachukwu shared a terrifying experience:

“If I had known, I would’ve stayed home. People were being pushed and falling. Security was flogging and even tasering people. It was chaos.”

Another fan, @mirabel_merra, said the situation got worse as security lost control:

“When security got tired, they left the gates. People were pushing so hard that if I hadn’t held my sister, she would’ve fallen. There was a real stampede. Gates were broken down, and it was every man for himself.”

For others, the night ended in loss. @reallifestories wrote:

“My wig, shoes, phone — everything was stolen. A kind stranger helped me calm down and gave me slippers to go home. It was heartbreaking.”

Many online have since called out event organizers for failing to prioritize safety. @Gidi_Traffic summed up the general sentiment:

“It’s 2025 — there’s no excuse. Organizers must take women’s safety and crowd management seriously.”

While Davido’s team has yet to address the complaints publicly, one thing is clear — fans expected a night of music and memories but instead left with bruises, losses, and bitter disappointment.
