Teyana Taylor has confirmed her decision to file for divorce from her long-time husband, Iman Shumpert. The multi-talented artist shared the news on her Instagram story, expressing her commitment to maintaining privacy around her family. She emphasized her dedication to protecting her children and family, stating, “I mind my business, don’t bother nobody, and y’all know I have never played about my children, family, and our privacy.”

Addressing the public nature of the issue, Taylor revealed, “I have not spoken on this private matter to any media outlets or blogs, etc. So everyone claiming ‘Teyana said’ didn’t get any statements directly from me. These statements were taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public.”

Acknowledging the difficulty of dealing with such a public matter, Taylor concluded, “It is very heartbreaking that someone would take the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see. However, protecting my family is one thing I’ve always done, and for my children, I will continue to do so.”

The artist known for her collaboration with Kanye West concluded her message by stating, “If you all care for your play nieces Junie & Rue as you have shown, please grant myself and my family some space to work through this privately. Love y’all.”

The recent revelation about the divorce has left fans on social media feeling somber. One fan observed, “It’s interesting how it’s often the woman taking steps to safeguard the family’s image. They usually bear the brunt of public embarrassment caused by the man, and yet, it’s the woman doing everything possible to shield them while the man remains silent. No effort to clarify or address the situation [shaking my head], let him handle it.”

Another fan chimed in, stating, “She’s basically reminding everyone to stop obsessing over celebrities, emphasizing that they’re human beings. Their children are not part of the fame, so it’s important to respect their privacy and move on. If it doesn’t affect you, just keep it toot toot and beep beep.”
