Pastor Femi Lazarus has addressed criticism from singer Timi Dakolo regarding the $150 fee charged for his school of ministry.
The debate between the two began after they shared differing opinions on whether gospel musicians should request payment for performing at church events.
In a widely circulated video, Pastor Lazarus expressed disapproval of gospel artists demanding payment for ministering, emphasizing that their focus should be on faith rather than financial gain.
He argued that gospel musicians are ministers first, not entertainers.
In response, Dakolo strongly disagreed, accusing pastors of expecting gospel singers to perform for free despite their personal financial responsibilities.
Taking to social media again, Dakolo pointed out that Pastor Lazarus charges students $150 for his ministry school, which offers teachings on Christianity—seemingly contradicting his stance on gospel singers requesting payment.
A social media user, Deeemaths, questioned Lazarus about the fee, saying:
“But you charge $150 for your school of ministry? Please can you shed more light on it sir? I thought it’s ministry?”
Lazarus responded briefly: “Yes o, it is a school.”
His reply suggests that the structured learning and training provided in his ministry school justify the charges.
