The renowned Australian artist Ron Mueck will have works on display at the Fondation Cartier in Paris from June 8th to November 5th, 2023.

The exhibition will include previously unseen sculptures as well as iconic works by Mueck, such as ‘Man in a Boat’ (2002), ‘Baby’ (2000), and ‘With a Girl’ (2006).

The exhibition, curated by Hervé Chandès, will also include the monumental installation ‘Mass’ (2017), consisting of one hundred oversized human skulls, which will be shown for the first time outside of Australia. Along with ‘Mass,’ the exhibition will include new works created especially for the occasion, such as a menacing pack of large dogs.

Mueck’s new approach focuses on sculpting form and presence, allowing him to broaden his subject matter and explore larger groups with more dynamic tension or movement. The exhibition will also include a cast-iron skull titled ‘Dead Weight’ (2021), which will be shown for the first time in France.

Mueck’s third show at the Fondation Cartier and a short film documenting the creation of his two most recent works will be shown on the gallery’s digital platforms.

The exhibition will then be shown at the Triennale Milano from December 2023 to March 2024 in collaboration with the Fondation Cartier and the Milan institution.
