John Odigie-Oyegun Makes a Bold Move to ADC
Former Edo State Governor and ex-APC national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, has officially taken a new political path by joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The announcement came on Tuesday in Benin City, where Oyegun received his membership card from the party’s state chairman, Kennedy Odion.
While welcoming him, Odion highlighted Oyegun’s history of building political alliances, referencing his pivotal role in shaping the coalition that gave rise to the APC in 2013—a move that played a part in the major political shift of 2015.
“He understands the structure,” Odion said. “He’s done it before. This time, he’s doing it from his home base—Edo.”
According to Odion, Oyegun was also the head of the committee that identified ADC as the next platform for driving political change.
Speaking on his decision, Oyegun shared that several options were on the table during the evaluation process. “We had conversations with about seven different parties. We listened, we reviewed. But at the end of the day, ADC stood out,” he explained.
He emphasized that the decision wasn’t rushed. “We took our time, delayed things by another two weeks, and went back to the drawing board. Still, ADC remained the most focused and committed to the people’s needs.”
