In Niamey, a rally supporting the Nigerian junta saw protesters showing their appreciation to Nigerien troops gathered outside the French Embassy.

Following the recent coup, the French foreign ministry announced plans to evacuate its citizens in Niger. The French embassy in Niamey stated that air evacuations would be organized due to the worsening security situation, and these evacuations are expected to take place very soon.

President Mohamed Bazoum of Niger was ousted by soldiers from his presidential guard, who took control of the country. Niger now becomes the third Sahel nation to experience a coup in a short period, following similar incidents in Mali and Burkina Faso.

These events have sparked anti-French sentiment, leading some nations to strengthen their relations with Russia. The situation remains fluid, and international developments are being closely monitored.
