Genevieve Nnaji Reacts to Netizen Urging Igbo Men to Marry Foreign Women

Veteran actress Genevieve Nnaji has addressed a controversial comment advising Igbo men to abandon Igbo women and seek wives outside the country.

The post began circulating after a photo of a Rwandan woman said to be engaged to an Anambra man surfaced online. Quoting the picture, a social media user claimed that Igbo men should look to East Africa for “better” partners, arguing that marrying Igbo women could lead to false accusations.

The message didn’t sit well with Genevieve. Responding directly, she criticized the mindset behind the post, saying it encouraged men to avoid self-reflection and target unsuspecting women instead.

She wrote:
“In other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and continue with your evil. Understood.”

Another user challenged her response, claiming the original post was directed at women who make false accusations. But Genevieve stood her ground, replying:
“The same way a woman can’t immediately tell an abusive man from a good one is the same way you shouldn’t say ‘avoid all Igbo women.’ Not all women.”

Her comments have sparked conversations online, with many praising her for addressing the issue head-on.
