The Commissioner of Police (COP), George Alex Mensah, has officially resigned from the Ghana Police Service, marking the conclusion of his tenure as he reaches the retirement age of 60. Prior to his retirement, he held the position of Director General of Operations within the Police Service.

COP George Alex Mensah had recently gained significant media attention due to a leaked tape in which he was heard discussing issues related to mismanagement within the service and advocating for the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare.
It’s worth noting that, despite his retirement, the parliamentary committee has indicated that COP Mensah may be called before the committee if the need arises.
