Ugandan dance troupe Ghetto Kids finished third in the final stage of Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday, thanking fans for their “unwavering support throughout the competition.”

The six children, aged six to thirteen, came from impoverished backgrounds in Kampala, Uganda’s capital, before being taken in and cared for by their guardian-turned-manager Dauda Kavuma.

Ghetto Kids was one of ten finalists in the competition, which was won by Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn, 33. Lilliana Clifton, a 13-year-old dancer, finished second, and magician Cillian O’Connor, 14, finished third.

The Ugandan group had already made history when one of the judges gave them a “golden buzzer” before they had even finished their performance, sending them straight to the semi-finals.

They then received the most public votes, earning them a spot in the final against nine other competitors.

It has added to the Ghetto Kids’ already considerable fame; before joining the UK talent show, they had millions of YouTube views under their belts, and they appeared in a music video for US-Moroccan rap star French Montana in 2017.
