Singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage has shared how her success was delayed by God for a greater purpose—so she could be a blessing to others.
In a recent episode of The Receipts podcast, Tiwa opened up about questioning why she wasn’t successful in her twenties. According to the ‘Water & Garri’ hitmaker, her delayed success could serve as an inspiration to younger women who might feel uncertain about their own paths.
“I feel like God intentionally delayed my success for a reason. I used to wonder, why didn’t I become successful in my twenties? But now I realize it’s not just about me—it’s to inspire that 25-year-old girl who might be worried about her future. If she sees my story and knows I found success in my thirties, it reminds her that she still has time,” Tiwa explained.
She also touched on the constant age-shaming she faces as a public figure, acknowledging how it’s become a part of her life. “They try so hard to place these standards on me, constantly age-shaming me. Every day, they ask, ‘How can a woman of your age wear a bikini?’”
Tiwa’s openness and resilience show how she continues to inspire others despite the challenges she faces.
