Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State is optimistic about the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies on Nigeria’s future. Despite the challenges inherited from the previous administration, Abiodun believes Tinubu’s bold and audacious reforms, such as the floating of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidy, will ultimately lead to long-term benefits.

In an interview on Channels TV on Sunday, November 27, 2023, Governor Abiodun commended the Tinubu administration for taking decisive actions to address the country’s economic issues. He acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerians due to the increased costs of fuel and food but emphasized the necessity of these measures. Abiodun stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has been very bold and audacious. They have done what no other government has done in the history of Nigeria.”

Despite the current challenges, Governor Abiodun expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to turn the country around. He highlighted Tinubu’s experience as a former governor, senator, and accountant, emphasizing his competence in managing economic affairs.

Abiodun acknowledged the tough decisions made by the Tinubu administration, such as deregulation, and underscored the importance of these measures in preventing a more severe economic crisis. He stated, “They either did that then or the country would be brought to its knees. Like they said, there can’t be any gain without pain. He has inherited an administration that was almost comatose.”

The governor remained hopeful about the future, stating, “We are very hopeful and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.” Governor Abiodun’s positive outlook coincided with the recent affirmation of his re-election as the duly elected Governor of Ogun State by the Appeal Court in Lagos, adding to the optimism surrounding the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms.
