The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the recent power outages in parts of the Greater Accra region to the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).

In a statement released on Thursday, March 28, ECG clarified that the disruptions are a result of GRIDCo reducing power supply to the Pokuase bulk supply plant. This reduction has led to outages in several areas including Kwabenya, Agbogba, Mayera, and others.

ECG assures affected customers that once GRIDCo restores full power supply, electricity will be promptly restored. The company acknowledges the inconvenience caused and apologizes to those affected.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Asare Otchere-Darko, an NPP stalwart, has raised concerns about the timing of these power outages. He questions why the country, which had stable electricity even during the peak of economic challenges two years ago, is experiencing disruptions now, especially with a general election looming.
