Labour Party’s Hilda Dokubo Declines Role in Obidient Movement Advisory Council
Hilda Dokubo, Chairperson of the Labour Party in Rivers State, has publicly distanced herself from the Obidient Movement Advisory Council. Despite being listed as a member, she clarified that she was not consulted before her name was included.
In a statement on Wednesday night, Dokubo reaffirmed her commitment to the Labour Party under the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure. She emphasized that taking on an advisory role within the Obidient Movement would conflict with her responsibilities as the state chairperson.
Expressing concerns about internal divisions within the party, Dokubo called for unity and alignment with the reconciliation efforts led by the National Chairman, Julius Abure. She urged members to prioritize party cohesion over factional interests.
“I have seen a list circulating on social media, released by a group known as the Obidient Movement Advisory Council, where my name appears as a member of its Supporting Advisory Council. I was never consulted before this inclusion.
“As the Chairperson of the Labour Party in Rivers State, I stand firmly under the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure. Taking on an additional role within this council would not align with my current responsibilities,” she stated.
Dokubo has requested to be removed from the council, hoping for understanding and resolution in the best interest of the party’s unity.
